It's a MIDI controller, meaning all it does it spit out MIDI data, if that's what you're asking. It's strength lies in how well it interfeaces with VSTi's. I've been using it with Acid 4 for several weeks now and I absolutely love it. It does come with Bitheadz Unity Piano (a 32 MB Steinway soft synth), but I was really disappointed with it. I prefer SampleTank's free piano with the PSP-PianoReverb plugin slapped on the bus. Check both KvR and VST Central to find gobs of free stuff. Also, check this thread for tips on using MIDI controllers like the Oxygen 8 to automate VST parameters. Also check this thread for more info on VSTi compatibility. Hope this helps, Nick

What youre hearing is probably the DSL soft synth theat comes with Acid which defaults to Piano, you can play other voices from the DSL but changing them is a bit messy as you have to do something in the List Editor never tried it so I cant give you detailed instructions. Got to KVR a download a wedge of VSTis recomend one called Crystal its a CPU hog but it sounds good and its free. Ian F

Reply by: pwppch Date:9/10/2002 7:45:20 AM You can send program changes from the Oxygen to change the voice you hear in ACID with the DLS softsynth as follows: - Make sure you have Realtime MIDI input enabled in ACID and that the Oxgyen input is thru'd to the DLS synth you want to audition/play. - On the Oxygen press MIDI/Select - Play the key with "Program" labled above it on the Oxygen (The "Middle" C on the keyboard" - To send patch 25, play the keys on the Oxygen with the number 2 and number 0 lables (D# and F# respectively" - Play the Oxygen key with the "Enter" label (C above "Middle C") - Press the MIDI/Select Key on the Oxygen. The DLS synth will now play patch 25. Peter
