Is there a way to adjust latency with the sblive soundcard when playing vst softsynths? I am getting an unusable response time so far. Is this because the support is mainly for asio cards? |

it's because the SB Live is a crappy sound card. i can know, cuz i own one myself. recently i installed the kX drivers, which can be downloaded at : http://kxproject.spb.ru/ i can highly recommend them. the mixer panel is quite different, so there's a (small) learning curve there, but i've been able to play VSTi's at 10 ms, without any problems. and i'm telling you, it makes all the difference in the world. especially in ACID, as the regular SB drivers in ACID aren't even ASIO to begin with, so the latency is even bigger when you compare it to for example Cubase, which uses the DirectX Full Duplex driver (still 46 ms). i suggest you give these drivers a try, they really kick ass if you have a SB Live/Audigy card. :) |
