Hey all, I'm dead in the water. HELP ME!!! I recently rebuilt my workstation and tweaked the hell out of the OS before I started installing apps. One of the tweaks was the 8.3 filename creation reg hack. Of course, Sonic Foundry apps starting popping up with the rundll error (could not find specified module). I tried to fix this by uninstalling, reversing the reghack, and reinstalling but this is NOT working for me. Another MAJOR problem is that none of my freaking plug-ins are showing up AT ALL. I have no studio without SoundForge. :( Somebody please help me! I'm so sad... |

nevermind, i fixed it. for those of you who get yourselves into this situation (no idea how), here's how to fix it: -make sure you have 8.3 filename creation re-enabled -uninstall everything sonic foundry -related. -uninstall all SF and DX plug-ins (so you can re-register them) -painstakingly and carefully go through your registry and search for and delete all sonic foundry registry entries that are actual application registrations (not OS registrations) - can't help you on this, you just have to know your registry. make sure not to miss any entries that include the path "\progra~1\sonic" - this is part of the cause. -delete all folders and files that are sonic foundry -related -reboot -reinstall btw, this sucked major sh!t balls, SF!!! |

alot xp perf enchancement tip sites say you should disable the creation of dos 8.3 file names in the registery for performance reason.. but SF relies on the names in this format. |
