When I launch Acid 4.0, an error message pops up in a small window stating: Error loading D:\PROGRA~1\SONICF~2\ACID The specified module could not be found. I hit "OK" and the program starts and appears to run properly. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I upgraded from 3.0 - 3.0 ran fine. Here is a brief decription of my setup: Windows XP Soyo Dragon Plus! Motherboard AMD Athlon 1700+ 512MB DDR Soundblaster Live! Thanks in advance. |

Bob, The error is due to the fact you are running NTFS drives with 8.3 filename creation disabled via your registry. Enabling 8.3 filename creation will correct the problem the next time you install. 1) Browse to the following key in your registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\ 2) Locate a DWORD entry named: NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation 3) Change the value of this entry to 0 (numeric zero) 4) Reboot, remove, and reinstall ACID 4.0 and the error should disappear. Nate, you need to put this in the FAQ cos there are some Audio performance sites out there recommending that you disable 8.3 filename creation on NTFS to boost performance on Audio systems. I had exactly the same problem, but managed to work it out from an article in your knowledge base on SF 6.0. T'was a pain to have to re-install, though. |

Neil, It's in the Knowledge Base here. I did have some problems searching for it. I will have it updated with new keywords and a more descriptive fix to make it more accessible and useful. Thanks, Nate |
