Subject:Adding Envelopes to events in Acid 3

I may be doing something stupid, but I am trying to add a volume envelope to part of a track. I have selected the event that I want to change, then right clicked on it and selected 'volume' from the add/remove envelope option....however, I'm not getting a line displayed allowing me to change the volume (the manual says a line will appear through the wave form).
All that happens is the envelope icon seems activated, and as I move across the event, the 'loop section' markers at the top of the screen seem to move wherever I drag the mouse??? Is it simpler than this, or is there a bug in Acid 3 that means the envelopes don't work (I'm running Acid 3.0f on a windows XP system. Any help gratefully received....its driving me nuts!

Weird, you definitely should get an orangish volume envelope across the track when you do that. I never had any envelope problems with 3.0f. But you might as well download 3.0g; it can't hurt.

You may need to vertically zoom in on the track. Stretch the track taller. If the track is very small, the envelope will not appear. For reference, the envelope should be track long and not event specific. Try going to a part of the track where there you haven't painted your wave file.

Good luck,

If you want to adjust the volume for only a particular event on a track, try hovering your mouse cursor near the top of the specific event. It'll turn into a pointy finger with a vertical double-headed arrow. Click and drag to adjust volume.

Other than that, you should see a track-long volume envelope per your method. Try using F9 on your keyboard to zoom to normal view.

Thanks for the tips guys....I tried again last night and it worked!! Maybe I had something else switched on the other night!! The line is different from how I remember it working in ye Olde Acide 1.0 that I last used this function in...when I selected the volume envelope now, purple lines seemed to appear on ALL tracks!

The other thing I'm not sure about is that the track I was tring to fade was set to
-1.5 on the track volume selector, but when I added the envelope, it seemed to default to 0.0, i.e. LOUDER than the rest of the track, so I had to adjust the start to -1.5 and then add an end point, and drag that down to zero...is this how it should work?

Many thanks

Vince

The '0.0' of the Volume Envelope represents the level that the track fader is set to, so if the track fader is set at -1.5, the track output will be -1.5 when the Envelope is set at 0.0.
