Has anyone else had trouble saving directly to a CD-R formatted with Adaptec's Direct CD (you know, the program that makes a CD-R work like an extra hard drive or floppy)? I'm trying to back up all of my ACID files (with all associated media files)to CD-Rs this way, but i keep getting the error message that this disc is read-only. this is not true. just to doublecheck, i have saved to this disc in microsoft word. anyone understand what's going on? |

BTW, version is ACID 3. I don't remember having this problem in ACID 2. |

Personally, I wouldn't trust DirectCD to do anything in particular. I used to use it on CD-RW and had stuff go missing or become unreadable. Regards M |

Thanks Mus, so that raises the question: how would YOU approach backing up all your ACD projects and associated media to CDR so you can reformat your recording drive? it seems like a simple question, but there are different ways to approach it. what do you do? mack |

Like Mus said, I would not trust DirectCD (or any other packet writing software) with my projects. I would back up all my projects to CD-RW or CD-R using Easy CD Creator or other CD burning software instead. Generally speaking, burning to CD-R will be your best bet for reliability but is more wasteful; burning to CD-RW is less reliable but will be able to be used again. Another alternative is to move or copy your projects to another drive. You can compress them using a utility like WinZip to make the process a little easier. HTH, Iacobus |
