Subject:Sample loops = aggravation; need help!

Hi all, I've been preparing looped samples for a project and want to delete all the material from the end of the loop to the end of the file. After I get a good loop I select the last segment of the file and delete it. Every time I do this the loop end point moves slightly and the loop is wrecked. Is there a solution for this? Thanks. |

The best way I found for "trimming a loop" is to set the end of the loop with a marker and select the body of the loop. Hit play, tweak it when necessary. Once you have the loop you want "selected," go under EDIT (I believe) and select "Trim/Crop" which will eliminate everything in the file that is not selected. Not sure what you mean by "loop end point" -- if that's a feature in SF, I've never used it. Starting with a selection, tweaking and using trim/crop may not be the way to go, but it works for me. |

"Once you have the loop you want "selected," go under EDIT (I believe) and select "Trim/Crop" which will eliminate everything in the file that is not selected." Much easier that fiddling with the menus, just use CONTROL+T. |

When creating a loop, it is very important that the beginning and ending have a smooth transition. This is typically accomplished by putting beginning and ending points at a "zero" crossing(when the sample value is 0). If this is not done, any playback will exibit an edit glitch. "Acid" will try to fix this but may change the loop. Verify your edit points for smooth transitions prior to cutting sections. Also, when saving verify that any non-audio information, such as author, title, ect. is understandable by the playback software. Some programs will interpet this information as audio data and will not play the loop correctly. |
