I am considering purchasing Sound Forge to edit the following file type. Can Sound Forge read and allow me to edit a file with the following attributes.

320kBit/s, 44,100 Hz, 16bit - (.MP3)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I just tried it in 6.0b and it worked fine. Of course, the file i tried opening was one i had just created in 6.0b, so that may not guarantee compatability with other software's files. I wouldn't think it would be a problem though.

Soundforge can open any valid MP3 I believe. I routinely open 128k -> 320k MP3's in it without any problem. Though for encoding I'd recommend using Lame (with RazorLame frontend). At 320k Lame just does Joint Stereo much better than the default Fraunhoffer codec.

BTW: Can Soundforge use the Lame codec at all? I havnt really tried it much yet, but I think it cant.. ?
