Hey, i've got one for you....i've used a video production program and made an .avi file. I've rendered the sound seperate from the video so i could send the .wav file into Soft Encode. I then put 6 individual tracks into the Soft Encode and get my .ac3 file out. I have a Sound Blaster Audigy card and the program it comes with plays the .ac3 file. Sounds great. Now I have the task of inserting the ac3 file back into the video. I have tried using VirtualDub with AC3 support and it says "the ac3 file is not compatible with the input format. Check the sampling rate and channel count to make sure it fits the requested format." Now i don't know the requested format but i tried all three sample rates (32, 44.1, 48) and 5 or 2 channels with each sample rate. It still doesn't work. Is this Soft Encode's error in making the ac3 or VirtualDub reading error? Is there any program that can put the two files together? I've searched and can't find one. If so what are they? All i want is a video file with 5.1 ac3 sound. |

AC3-capable DVD authoring apps will be able to the marry separate a/v files, but you'll need to burn to DVD to watch it. |

TMPGEnc will multiplex a video-only .mpg (or .mpv or whatever) and .ac3 files into a .mpg with 5.1 sound. |
