Wrote tech support a few days and no response yet...anyway, has anyone else had this problem? just installed Acid 4, and *every* time I start the beatmapper it crashes Acid with the below error information. Doesn't matter how big the sound file is or whether its mp3 or wav. p.s. I still have Acid 3.0 installed so as a workaround I can beatmap each track in 3.0 then add it to my 4.0 project. Everything else I've tried in 4.0 seems to work. darrin |

Nope. Chopper works fine. Beatmapper comes up when u load a track, then after you press Next twice, the program crashes. Another way to cause the error: Pull up Properties on a track. Change track type to Beatmapped, click Stretch, click Beatmapper Wizard, then any button you press causes the crash. Weird! d |

Hi there! Just got ACID 4 tonight! ($200 only, just too great!) I haven't test road it fully yet but I'm getting there. I tried that beatmapper thingy here (with an mp3),followed your steps and it didn't crash on mine and neither did the chopper. It must be a system thingy. Pat |

chocko, This is pretty strange. I've been using the beatmapper throughout testing on all supported versions of Windows and havent crashed as you describe. What make/model of video card do you have? What other software is running in the background on your machine? Nate |

Chocko, Are you using the ASIO drivers, or Wave drivers? If you're using the ASIO drivers, could you try switching to wave and see if the crashes go away (Options->Preferences->Audio->Audio Device Type)? Until M-Audio releases a driver update, there will be problems using their Delta cards in ASIO mode in ACID 4. |

Hi- I tried switching to Classic Wave and the same error occurs. This time I simply opened an mp3, and when the beatmapper dialog popped up, I hit cancel and THEN the error occurs. Seems strange that the sound driver would be involved at that point. As I said before my installation of Acid 3 works great, no problems in the beatmapper there. Is there any way I can isolate the problem? I'll try changing to the VGA video driver to see if that is the problem. Thanks to everyone who has posted details on this Chopper/Beatmapper/Track-props crash. I just found the bug, and a workaround. The bug is in our new list-based-preview code. It crashes when our preview engine (Chopper/Beatmapper/Track Properties playback) tries to 'stop' if the explorer window isn't open. There are two simple workarounds. 1) Leave the explorer window open. Hit Alt+1 to open it, and then you can tuck it behind one of the other 'views' as a tab, if you don't want to burn screen real estate with it. 2) Turn off the list-based-preview feature. You first need to make sure the Explorer window is visible, or you'll crash disabling the pref. Go into Options->Preferences->Other-> and uncheck "Enable multiple-selection preview in Explorer window". With this turned off, you should be able to avoid the crash whether the Explorer window is open or not. Very sorry about the inconvenience this bug has caused, and thanks again to all who helped us find it. |
