i am almost finished reading LEARN ACID 3.0 IN 24-HOURS
but i am anxious do start remixing
i want to create a 124 bpm drum loop--(that i can do---4 on the floor)
next, i want to mix that loop the whole way though with the 60's song
mr postman
i can not figure out how do to this
i have been at this for hours
i have strecthed a million parts of it on vegas video 3.0 so it would fit, but it sounds terrible
i have tried in acid and i can't do anything
i know there has to be a better--and much cleaner sounding way
thnx in advance
sb

David,

It's not clear what you're trying to do. Let us know exactly what you're trying to accomplish and what you've done so far.

ok,
1st step: i want to mix the oldies song--mr postman---with a club beat
let's say 124 bpm
the whole way through
that is step one
second step: i will take the loop i created at 124 bpm---and add samples to the song---kind of teasing the mix, hand clapping, wait , wait a miute, mr postman, etc.
3rd step) i will put (backwards way of doing it) the second part of this remix first and then the song, then the beat again to add another song
sorry if i'm not clear, my enthusiasm is clouding my head
thnx jessariah

well you can load the postman song in one track. The beatmapper thing will let you try and find the downbeat and tempo of the song. Then, theoretically, you can just paint out the whole song and go crazy adding beats.

Of course, what with human drummers, stretched master tape, etc, the song probably varies tempo just enough to throw it off every few bars. In which case you need to load the song, get the tempo as close as you can, and then cut every measure of the song apart and re-align them to the Acid downbeat.

Or you could insert tempo change markers every so often to keep things lined up -- then Acid will follow the song tempo and not vice versa. That's pretty painful as well.

Actually what's the most painful is hearing a house remix of "Please Mr. Postman" in my head.

Are you having trouble getting your four on the floor beat to match up with "Please, Mr. Postman" consistently? You may want to check out this post by Joel from SoFo.

sonicboom:
You need to take Mr. Postman into a wave editor and cut it into sections of semi-consistent tempo, each of an exact measure in length. The whole song. Bring each piece into Acid as a loop (not a one-shot or beat map), making sure to check how long Acid thinks each piece is. If Acid thinks the pieces are of the wrong length, you'll have terrible results. Rebuild the song however you want from the pieces. If I get any more detailed, you're going to have to pay me.
