Subject:ACID won't recognize all my VSTi's

When I refresh the VST Instrument list, some of the instruments that are in a specific directory do not show up.
Also, getting alot more crashes with VST instruments. It really doesn't matter which, it happens erraticly.
Regards,
Rich

I had the same problem seeing all the VSTis. The answer for me was to just back up far enough in the directory structure, define that as the location, then let Acid "go back down" and search.

Which instruments are you having trouble with? Are they just single DLL's or do they require a more complex installation?

Specifically, the MDA epaiano and the MDA DX10. Thes are single .DLL's, no fancy install. ACID sees the MDA piano and the rest of my instruments, no problem.
Weird.

This is a quote from reFX on the KvR forum about problems with their Junox2 and Acidpro4:

"This is because JunoX 1.4 does not support processReplacing() which is OPTIONAL. Some developers seem to think that every synth supports processReplacing(). Although it's strictly NOT JunoX2s fault, we will release version 1.5 tomorrow (too tired right now) which will fix this ACID missbehaviour. "

Maybe this is effecting other VSTis as well ?

This is not true. ACID support processReplacing() and process().

Something else is wrong.

Do these plugs have their own UI or are the dependent on the host providing a UI? In that case, ACID will not support them. ACID doesnot provide a UI and will not enumerate or expose such plugins.

The MDA ePiano and DX10 don't have their own UI, so that does appear to be the problem. Would SoFo consider creating it's own VSTi wrapper to accommodate skinless plugins?

These plugs are not causing problems for our QA dept. I use them, as do others, with out incident.

Something else is wrong, though I don't know what.

What you might try is:

With ACID 4.0 _NOT RUNNING_
run regedit
locate the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sonic Foundry\ACID\4.0\Metrics\VSTi Synth

Delete the entire "VSTi Synth"

Restart ACID.

This will completely flush ACID's VSTi synth cache and force a complete rebuild.

You will have to re-enable the synths you want once ACID starts.

This doesn't solve my problem neither. I get a crash everytime I scan the VstPlugins folder. And even if once, I could recognize some of the VSTis, now I can't get anyone since it crashes everytime. I shouldn't have deleted the registry branch. Thanks for the tip anyway...

Right now after about eight crashes, I made it work. I made a scan, it didn't crash and this time I got all my VSTis to work! Well maybe this registry cleaning tip finally helped me...
