Subject:ACID 4.0 error message on start up

Everytime I start up ACID 4.0, I receive the following error message: "An error occurred starting ACID. The reason for the error could not be determined." I click the OK button to clear the message and I am able to proceed normally. It's not a crash. The message appeared the very first time I ran ACID 4.0 (immediately after running the default install) and it continues to appear everytime I run ACID. It's not a particularly helpful error message. Where do I begin to troubleshoot this? |

Are you using Win XP? I got this error after setting some of XP's services to manual to free up ram. I get the same error message running Vegas, but not SF-6. Everything seems to work normal though so I stopped worrying :-) |

Disabling the "terminal services" service from running will give you this error. There is a check to see if this service is running in ACID and Vegas to help the app work better with fast-user switching and remote desktop for Windows XP. You are correct in saying that the app works normal. It is still running at it's full capacity, it just won't work as well when used by multiple people on the same machine via fast-user switching or via remote desktop (thought Rem Desktop won't work anyway with termainal services off). It is one error that you don't have to worry about <g> .Brett |

Wow. You guys are good. That was *exactly* the problem. I had done some tweaking of the services in XP and Terminal Services was disabled. I guess I've got a choice to make now, but at least I know what the issue was. Thanks much! |

I'm attempting to run Vegas 3c via Windows XP remote desktop from another Windows XP desktop...Vegas spits out an Exception and locks-up whenever I hit "play" remotely...Any ideas as to why this might happen? All other apps function normally and both computers are otherwise healthy. Thanks in advance, Mixnut |
