Hello, I really like the surround sound feature. If you have a true SP/DIF output or AC-3 you can really get surround panning out of this program, I right click on the track surround panner and send it to the Surround Panner, and a few other settings and it's got great sound, I'm going to try out automating a drum solo in surround having the drums move around in a circle automatically. This has great potential. Hey MD, Long time no talk to....How have ya been? See ya, Rockitglider |

Yes, preferably 5 or 6 (5 full-range + sub), but if you don't use the center & sub, you can get by with 4 (quad). You can either use a multi-channel sound card, multi-stereo sound card, or multiple stereo sound cards. ///d@ |

to activate surround sound - create a new project and select surroun 5.1 instead of stereo. Alt-enter to get the project properties. It's VERY cool. check it out. |

toukhy, You will need to do the following: 1) Open Acid and start a new project. 2) Go to File>Properties>Audio and select 5.1 Surround as the Master bus mode. Apply, OK. 3) Go to Options>Preferences>Audio and select either Windows Classic Wave Driver or your sound card's ASIO entry from the Audio device type menu. 4) Set up the outputs you wish to use for front, rear, center, LFE, etc from the menus below. Apply, OK. Now you should be able to insert some tracks and pan them to your heart's content. Hope this helps. Nate |

Does your sound card provide access to six discrete audio channels? Or does it only do the EAX game-surround stuff that many consumer cards do? To do surround mixing in ACID, you need a sound card that provides explicit access to 6 audio channels, listed in 3 stereo pairs. If your card does not list 3 separate devices then most likely it does not provide discrete access to each output. |

Many professional-level cards have six or more discrete channels. Cards by Echo, MOTU, MIDIMAN, and Frontier to name a few. There is a list of manufacturers available in our Knowledge Base here. You could browse some of their websites to see what interfaces they have available and to find recommended pricing. |
