Because the decision to release was not made by the honest, hard-working folks of SOFO who have to come in here and try to clean up this mess, it was made by suits who looked at the stock price first, and the beta results second.

Rich,

"Why didn't Sonic Foundry inform potential upgraders that there was a known M-Audio ASIO driver issue?"

They did. It's in the release notes, which is made available at all download links, listed under "known issues". Plus, I'm still not understanding why you and so many other people bought the product without extensively testing out the demo first. Heck, ASIO problems on the M-Audio would have shown up with only a few minutes testing. To me, that's the beauty of demo-ware. I have ASIO too (SBLive). I tested. It worked. I read the notes. I tested again. Now I own. Simple process. "Corporate" has nothing to do with it. You wouldn’t buy a new car without making sure it fits in your garage first, would you? Don’t mean to harp, but it doesn’t seem fair to blame Sonic Foundry when it appears you could have avoided your predicament with 20 seconds of reading.

Sympathetic regards,
Nick LaMartina

Hello,

I was going to say the same thing Nick, but to add to this not everyone has problems with the M-Audio drivers, I have two Delta cards in my machine with no problems yet, and I'm only running a PIII 800. I'm getting 11ms at 512 samples Latency, and using an external MIDI controller with VSTi softsynths in live mode. I'm confident the problem will be fixed soon. But on a side note, Why do you think a problem with another company's drivers should hold up the release for Sonic's stuff? I would have released it as well.

See ya, Rockitglider

Well,
Seems I have "egg on my face". I never saw the release notes. I never have had luck with demos so I don't use them. I am a long time registered ACID user and never had issue with the product before. Everyone knows what happens when you ASS U ME...

Rockitglider, what Delta cards are you using? What OS? You indicate you are using a PIII 800. Intel chipset?
Perhaps the problems are connected to my Windows XP/VIA MoBo/Athlon XP+ setup. I am using a Delta R-Bus, with the latest XP drivers.
Oh well, I guess I have to wait for a fix.
Regards,
Rich

Rockit: What OS are you running? What version of the Delta drivers? Which Delta product specifically?

(Sorry for all the questions that you have probably posted a number of times...)

Hello,

Windows XP Home Version
Setup for Windows classic view, none of that Win XP beauty crap going on, and setup for backgroud services not programs, as this is the way to setup XP for audio.

Delta Dio 2496
Delta Audiophile 2496
Setup for Multi card Sync in Delta control panel at 11ms 512 samples

Driver version 5.10.00.27 for both cards.

Running Acid on ASIO and Classic Wave both work good.
Exept for the ASIO work much better for VSTi.
Running FM-7,Pro-52,Fruity 3.56 and still trying others. Using an M-Audio Oxygen-8 keyboard.
One thing I did notice is that my Oxygen-8 keyboard sometimes causes restarts with other programs now, but not with Acid 4.0 but didn't before installing Acid. Sometimes I'll have to crank the latency up to 15ms to acomidate for more things running at once, but still sounds OK.

Let me know if you need anymore info,
See ya, Rockitglider

Press the Windows key (the key with the Windows logo on it) +Pause/Break on your keyboard. Click the Advanced tab. Under the "Performance" box, click the Settings button.

Finally, under the Advanced tab, there's a "Processor Scheduling" box. Tick the Background services option.

There are more tips at MusicXP.net. Check it out.

Pause/Break is a key in the upper right of your keyboard. It's usually grouped with Print Screen and Scroll Lock.

Dear God, you had to ask? :) There are so many now that are affordable. There's the Delta line of interfaces from M-Audio, the line of products from Echo, Terratec, RME, and MOTU.

I'm sure there are others who can vouch for other audio hardware companies.

Iacobus

Very interesting. I am using the same driver model, XP Pro, M-Audio R-Bus (as master device in my studio). Classic view, some services shut off, back ground services etc.
I will try the 512 buffers. I am not sure it will help though.
Thanks,
Rich

Rockitglider, are you saying that you've had success with Fruity VSTi?

>with Fruity VRockitglider, are you saying that you've had success STi?

Hello,

Whan I first started running Acid Fruity was doing pretty good, but after letting it run a while, It crashed. So I tried some more things with Fruity, other than tracks, and things got worse. So I have to say Not running too good with Acid, If I insert Fruity in the Buss area it starts ok and stops ok but it doesn't reset to the begging of the song, when stopping in Acid. If I insert Fruity in a MIDI track I can't get it to work very good at all, sometimes doesn't start. But it syncs pretty good in the Buss area with about 15 drum tracks in fruity with Ohmboyz Delay plug-in on the Master buss in Fruity, playing a drum rythum and adding guitar tracks into Acid, things went pretty good for a while. I also noticed that if VSTi Live is selected in Acid it won't sync start either.

See ya, Rockitglider
