I am completely missing the point on how to change sounds for playback using the DLS softsynth in ACID. This should be an easy thing, but I just don't see it. How on earth is this done? Where does the name of the patch that is playing appear? I only get a piano sound, but "piano" does not appear anywhere. I have been unable to change that sound. It is not like I am a novice with this stuff. This should be a simple process. I just don't get it. Please help. Thanks, Bruce Gaston |

You have to use the event editor and enter the patch / bank change numbers, which are listed next to each sound in the DLS synth. I haven't figured this out yet. Rich |

The second icon over in the list editor tool bar is 'insert event' -- it's a little quarter note with an explosion at the top of it's stave ;-) Event type Patch, then you can enter the bank MSB and LSB and patch number. What I haven't figured out is how to get DLS drum kits to work. I put in a patch change for the proper drum kit, and it just changes from Piano to Guitar or whatever. And yes, I set the track to channel 10. I've actually gotten drum sounds out, but was just trying shit at random and don't remember how I got it to work. |

Thanks for the information...I really appreciate it. I was stymied. It seems quite a bit more complicated than it should be. However, at this point I am able to change sounds. Now, on to the next problem......:) |

Basically, the "insert event" icon in the "list events" section, as chaircrusher noted, is the key. This is not an obvious icon. However, one can then force the patch change since there are fields for that and for bank changes. |
