I spent a couple days making over 10 attempts to install it. I even cleaned my whole system with a new HD format and installation of Win XP, along with the usual updates. Still no install of Acid Pro 4 demo. That was before any other apps were installed on a clean OS. I can get Acid Pro 3 demo installed and working.

If either of you could help us by creating an instll log when you try to install the acid 4 demo that would be great. It might help us track down your problem.

A couple prequisites. First, direct X 8 must be installed, but since this is on WinXP that shouldn't be a problem. Also, you need the latest windows installer service, available here Windows
instller 2.0 for Win 2k/XP

If you have both of those, then do the following to create an install log when you install ACID 4.

1. Find the directory into which the ACID package extracted its setup files. This normally defaults to "C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry Setup\ACID 4.0".

2. Run MSIEXEC.EXE with the following command line: MSIEXEC.EXE /i "C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry Setup\ACID 4.0\acid.msi" /l* C:\acidlog.txt

If the user extracted the files to a location other than the default, be certain to use that in place of the C:\ bit.

After setup completes/errors out. Open the C:\acidlog.txt file and either e-mail that to me at bcook@sonicfoundry.com or post it here. We will try to find out what is going on then and help.

Thnx-
Brett

Brett,
As I indicated, I sent you an email with the info you requested. Did you get the email? A yes or no is a step forward from my view. [G] Did it have what you needed to help find out why Acid Pro 4 demo will not install on my system when Acid Pro 3 demo works along with VV3c and SF5? Did you not get the email? Should I do it again and post it here in case there is some kind of email problem happening? Should I forget about using Acid since all my other apps work?

You should be able to avoid it by doing a silent install: acidSetup -q"

To clarify, that would mean running setup by using the run command on the start menu and typing "C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry Setup\ACID 4.0\acidsetup -q"

I just got it working with your help. It did not work until I used it with the -q outside of the quote marks.
"C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry Setup\ACID 4.0\acidsetup" -q

Now that I did the 'silent install' how can I do a 'silent uninstall' as I get the same error while removing that I did during installation????
