Subject:Odd time signatures? Working out OK?

I was wondering how the different time signatures are working out in new ACID? 7/4? 5/4? 17/4? Can it happen?

Also...a simple question...there seems to be so much to wade through as opinions, crashed systems and I can't tell from hours of reading posts...

Do you folks LIKE Acid 4.0 or is it too buggy to deal with. I am either going to buy it or not, I don't even want to deal with 'trying out the demo' if that is going to start the 'crash' process...

Que piensan?

I like it so far. Why not download the demo and try it out? I actually ordered the boxed set, but it's not going to ship until 9/15, so I downloaded the demo to get familiar with it. I've had no major problems.

Even if you do run into bugs, I figure that it makes economic sense to get it for the intro price now, because the fixes will not cost anything extra when they are realeasd. If you buy after the intro period, it will cost you more.

There are probably as many people who are having a good experience as there are having problems, and most of them probably aren't posting comments to this forum. So I'd download the demo, play with it, and uninstall it of you think it's not worth it.

People with no complaints don't post to message boards ;-)

The different time signature stuff works, plus you can change time signatures on bar boundaries.

A large percentage of the howls of pain with Acid 4 comes from the people with M Audio Delta series cards, with which there is a known incompatibility. And of course, now that the release is out there, Sonic Foundry is getting reports on all the bugs they missed during beta. The first update should clear up a LOT of the problems people have been experiencing.

In addition to what everyone's said, you might want to check out the Video Tour of ACID Pro 4.0, especially Part V.

(Should mention this would probably work best with a broadband connection.)

Download the PDF too (also on the same page). It points out the new features in some detail if you're already an ACID Pro user.

HTH,
Iacobus
