There's a pretty intense debate happening over at KvR at the moment about the price of AcidPro4. It boils down to this: Is US$99 the price for ANYONE wanting to buy the full downloadable version, or is it just for existing customers as an upgrade ? People are quoting all sorts of prices; insisting $99 is only for existing Acid users; and that if you don't already own an Acid app and paying $99 then you're engaging in fraud. Can SoFo clarify this ? |

People are quoting all sorts of prices; insisting $99 is only for existing Acid users; and that if you don't already own an Acid app and paying $99 then you're engaging in fraud. >>You don't have to own ACID to have received the promotion. Any other REGISTERED user of any other Sonic Foundry product was eligible. There were other price points for box promotions as well. Otherwise, the price is $249 on our web site. |

Sonic DHC, Sorry we all have to deal with all the different threads on the same subject. According to your post I now see that SoFo "will sell Acid 4 to any owner of any soFo app for $99" . I am still curious as to why the email SoFo sent me only mentions "update" throughout the message. Update indicates that I need to have Acid 3 or 2. Am I misunderstanding the word update for some reason? Gary G |

I'm in the same situation as Gary. I own both Acid 2.0 Latin and Vegas Video 3.0, and from a few posts on this forum it sounds like I qualify to purchase Acid 4.0 via download for $99. If that's true, I will gladly shell over some cash. However, I haven't received any keycode or e-mail explaining how to make that purchase. Like GG, I've only received e-mail offering $99 as an update to Acid Pro 3.0. Someone please clarify. Luxo |

Alright, well I'm known to be a bit impatient, so I bit the bullet and tried purchasing using the $99 keycode Craftech posted in the following thread. And it worked. Although I own Acid 2.0 Style and Vegas Video 3.0, it never asked for either of those serial numbers during install, and I am now a fully registered user of Acid Pro 4.0. Luxo, Thanx for the info. The big difference, still, is that you had Acid 2 and I do not have any versions of Acid. Just SF5 and VV3. I have the impression that the Sofo people are busy with some problems and that they are helping current owners of Acid. I am in no hurry. I am still evaluating Acid 3 demo and I just wanted to see if Acid 4 was worth it. I still can not get it to install and if I bought it, I may have the same problem. GG |

Well, if you can't get it to install, that's a larger problem. You should be able to install the demo no matter what, but I see some others are having similar problems. Good luck, and I'm sure SF will have a fix in the form of 4.0a in no time. Yes, I've used every version of Acid since 1.0, and own VV 3.0, but that had no bearing on my purchase. You do not need a previous version of Acid with that link. Luxo |
