Hi, my Specs are: P3 800 - 512ram -Windows XP pro - Echo Darla 20 Since Acid 4 is a joke,I figured out I was gonna go back to 3.. Now I can't use my Darla 20 souncard with any of SOFO products on Playback(recording is fine)without having Freezes any other compagnie products are fine... and that happens only under win XP(was working fine before on 98 SE) since I dont want to Put back 98,could someone tell me what it could be... I've been trying a lot allredy including forcing IRQs ,changing slots,and full reinstall off course. Its driving me mad PLZ PLZ help me out here... P.S I know other people with similar problem with different configs... |

you should reinstall XP, I know it's a pain in the ass but you'll lose less time... That's what i learned from experience + it's never a bad thing to work on freshly instaled OS (especially windows). |

erfff... no I'm talking Format + clear of the bios and everything that goes with it... That didn't solve anything... The problem is Inside XP or SOFO... |

slcrz, Or the problem is with your soundcard or a hundred other things. I know tons of folks who are using the Darla with no problem. So - before you attempt the 51st reinstall or start blaming XP or SF - why don't you throw down some specs on your system like cards, drivers, motherboard etc etc so we can look at this thing a little deeper. Ok ...Tx for trying to help Specs:P3 800 -Asus CUsL2 - 512 Ram -Geforce 2 GTS- adaptec SCSI 2940 -Darla 20 -Sounblaster 128PCI -2 IBM 40G -Plextor Cd rom 40X - Cd burn Yamaha - ethernet Card for Cable connection... Before we go into anything,I wanna say that I 've tried to take out every card in my system espacially the soundblaster wich I tought was the cause... and I tried to do full reinstall Each time from one to all of the cards Out... that didnt Do... I'm a bit lost now having test pretty much all different Physical hardware Config possible... Any Ideas :) Cheers JAY |

Sorry I forgot to tell u the darla driver wich is the last one "6.04" and for the rest of the material I'm using the last Drivers... knowing the 6.04 darla drivers is still a beta driver concerning any NT based OS But I have that feeling (having talked a lot about it with Darla tech support ) that is not a driver problem... and all other APPS are working Fine !!! |

Jay: I had an issue in 4.0 that caused one of my soundcard drivers to go bad (distortion in all applications), but a driver reinstall fixed it right up. I think it's cool the way everyone tries to help each other out on this forum. Some know a lot; some know a little, but everyone seems to offer what they can. James |

Okay - here's a thought. I know it goes against the grain but is it possible for you to try recording with just the soundblaster and NOT the Darla - just to see if you can get anything going? Take the Darla out if need be. We need to isolate the problem here. Update when you can. Cheers, Cuzin B |

Ok,Tested and working Soundblaster Working !!! (pffff,I wish I could say the same for the darla :' ) CUzinB did u had any Ideas,that u wanned me to test that... P.s.(the darla seems to be working under new ASIO condition on ACID 4 DEMO The Acid interface seems to be Slower and GLitchy when ASIO is on, but at least it's Working ...I'd Still like to be able to make it work in MME condition wich seems to be the problem) TX guys to get involved. slcrz, Well...that looks like we have narrowed things down a bit. If the Darla doesn't work and the elcheapo Soundblaster does work, what does that tell ya? This has got to be a driver issue or maybe even a Darla hardware problem. What else do you have installed on this box program-wise? Anything besides XP and just your audio apps? Run down your listing and let's see if anything else pops out. Also what exactly happens when you try and play something thru - say Acid 3.0? Please do NOT install Acid 4.0 until we see what is going on. If your other apps work fine then maybe there is something else going on here with 4.0. My advise - one app at a time. allright here is what have done for the past hour... I assigned an IRQ for the darla (was on n°7 before now its on n°5)... So the darla is by it self on n°5(that didnt work),but still I prefer it to be there I tried to take the sounblaster out and test the darla in ACID 3.0g what happens is the playback may start or not (even if it does start the VU's get Stucked after few second or even more randomly) the sound obviously Stop,so I stop the playback...from there I have no choice than closing Acid and restart the computer (The VU's in the darla console are all Stucked in full up position). On one of my numerous reinstall of Win XP I tried to just install Acid by itself and the result was the same,so I dont believe to much in a problem with other apps installed on my harddrive... The issue might eventually comes from the drivers since they still beta's(release candidate)...but why is it working under every other apps I use(from Nuendo to Reason... I even tried Demo of fruityloops and they all work in ASIO or MME ) ACID an SOUNDFORGE are my 2 most used apps and they are the only ones not working... So what do u mean by a "DARLA HARDWARE PROBLEM" beside changing slots and IRQ wich I allready done what else can I do ? Cheers m8 for taking the time. JAY |
