Subject:ASIO for Delta (or other cards in same boat)

"The reason you see this in ACID and not other ASIO apps is in the way ACID communicates with the ASIO drivers. Most ASIO apps open and leave the ports open forever. ACID does not behave this way. We have not seen this problem with any other ASIO drivers for other hardware."

If you deselect "Close audio and midi ports when ACID is not the active application" (preferences/general), will this solve the aforementioned problem?

SoFo support, any thoughts on this?
Regards,
Rich

No. The only solution is the release of new ASIO drivers from M-Audio/MIDIMan.

FWIW: The problem is caused by the driver failing/faulting when we do an ASIO "disposebuffers" call to the driver.

The Aardvark ASIO driver works great (just in case M-Audio doesn't come through).

I went back to the "Classic" drivers. Unchecking the box I mentioned in my original post, did make a difference (no crashes)but the performance, well pretty bad.
I don't seem to have any problems with the classic drivers. Since I monitor the input through my VS-2480 and can't really record midi with VST instruments, it really doesn't matter.
Oh well....

We have found that you can easily lower ACID's buffering to ~50-100 ms when using the classic wave drivers. Some can even go lower. I know this isn't ideal, but it does make things usable for VSTi live playback.

Does anyone know if Sonic Foundry has directly notified M-Audio of this driver problem? It might be more effective than just having individual user's write in. Just notice that M-Audio is working on the problem would be very cool.

When I ran into this during dev I contacted them and they acknowleged the problem immediately. They are working on it. I can say we have recieved an early alpha driver that appeared to have the problem resolved.

I don't know when they will be releasing the update.
