Hi,

First time posting here and I am glad that this forum exists. I provided some guitar work for some guys who recorded these sessions with Acid Pro 3. I was blown away by what they assembled. Now I want to get in on the fun and create a system for producing sound clips for my company's web site.

Could you recommend directing me to a source for the architecture of such a system. That is, what would be a good and reliable computer choice, with all the necessary peripherals needed. I have a pair of Alesis xt-20's hooked up with a Panasonic DA-7 digital mixer and would very much like to integrate with the above.

As you can tell, I don't have a clue as to what the happening stuff is but I do know that I really like Acid Pro software. Or maybe Acid Pro 4?

Kindest regards,

The SF downloadable catalogue mentions PCNirvana as a source for a good PC.

Hello Rick,

Hmmm. (I always say, "Hmmm," don't I?)

That DA-7 has RCA coaxial S/PDIF I/O, right? You could connect that to a computer using a soundcard that has coaxial S/PDIF I/O, like the Echo Mia or the M-Audio Audiophile 2496. The Mia can be had for about $190-200 USD and the Audiophile can be had for about $170-180 USD.

You might want to check out the Boxx system if you haven't done so already. However, it's a little on the pricey side and I'd rip out that Soundblaster and slap in any of the above mentioned soundcards instead.

Me? I build my own from chosen parts. It's cheaper but it isn't exactly for the faint of heart, either. There are many companies out there now that will build the computer of your choice for a nominal fee. MyST has already mentioned one. Motherboard Express is still another.

HTH,
Iacobus
