Is it possible to take a wave file using Soft Encode, then encode it to Dolby Digital, and then take the finished AC-3 file and re-encode it as an Mp3 or similar media format? The only reason I ask is that I have a rather large collection of self made music, and would much enjoy the chance to get it to Dolby Digital 5.1, however the AC-3 file format is substantially larger in size than a Mp3 or Windows Media or Ogg Orbis file, and it would take me a huge number of more blank CD's to be able to make them all into 5.1. Any help or assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Once you have created a file that is in a Dolby Digital format, you are done. There is no other compression scheme or format that could be applied to that file.
