Is there a way with or without Sound Forge to edit the metadata of a file quicker than opening the entire file. I have a small alteration to make to the metadata on 20+ files and so far I am opening the files in SF changing the info and saving. This is a long and tedious process just to change the metadata. Batch Converter is out as each file is unique. Thanks for any help. |

If you're running Windows 9x/2000... MP3 Workshop, and it's free. It's alot like Batch converter. http://myhome.iolfree.ie/~mp3workshop/ Shell extensions allow you to encode/decode/resample/retag/change volume directly from Windows Explorer. You can right click on the MP3 file and the ID3 Tag comes up for it, change data and save. MJ |

If you have Nullsoft's Winamp, (http://www.Winamp.com) which opens an mp3 file fast and is a free download, the info can be edited in the ID3 Tag Editor, . Click the upper left menu selector and select "View file info" or press Alt+3. PS- Winamp does not take over your PC and change many of your file associations like the obnoxious Real Player. |

rraud says; "If you have Nullsoft's Winamp, which opens an mp3 file fast and is a free download, the info can be edited in the ID3 Tag Editor" True! I forgot about that! It's even faster to load a directory in the playlist window > right-click on an MP3 file and select "File info" and allows editing ID3 tag ver. 1 or 2. Good call rraud, especially since most already have Winamp installed. MP3 Workshop is a stable non-intrusive multi-function app. for those that need it's capabilities including Lame encoding for those interested. MJ |
