Hmm, presumably the optimized audio engine will help long one shots as well as loops? Looking forward to the beta for sure and hope pricing is keen too!

- Optimized DLS and VSTi soft synth model

What does that mean, exactly? I'm assuming that you're not including a soft synth, are you?

David.

With ACID PRO 4.0 you can now route any track to a new soft synth bus. Each bus controls its own sound set, rather than being tied to individual tracks.

I would like some more info (or a link) on these features... the catalog is taking forever and a half to load...

- Enhanced time stretching for Beatmapped tracks

- Optimized ACID playback engine

I'm with you, jacose, is this the long-lost upgrade of the Acid audio engine to at least the level of the $39 Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 engine which allows unlimited multitracking to co-exist hand-in-hand with loops? Or is it some super-subtle efficiency booster which gives the CPU a tiny break over the previous cycle load? Inquiring minds need to know!

very true Maruuk...

I really think sonic foundry is a great company, but it would be really sad to see them drag along, and not really get anything NEW acomplished....

Im sure we wont be dissapointed with the 4.0 release... But I would hope to be overjoyed with it, not simply satisfied...

I dont mean to keep plugging imageline, But with every new release (e.g=3.1 to 3.2) of fruityloops, it equals the features in one Number release of a sonic foundry product (also keep in mind here that Sonic foundry has like 10 apps and Imageline only has one that it supports now)

please excuse the long post and NO I am not trying to advertise for imageline

if you want to view the source its here:
http://www.e-officedirect.com/Fruityloops/documents/186.html

keeep in mind this is ALL within the release number 3~~!!!!
admiteddly, there are a lot of little bugfixes, but really, you wouldnt even recignize the program from 3.4 to 3.55, less from 3.0 tp 3.55, heck, version 1.0 only had MIDI!!!!

I bolded the ones I feel were important

the reason I posted this extremely long list is to show the people here a software company that has made me extremely happy with there product, and the continual advances they have made.

Granted, S.F. has more products to deal with, and also a number of other services they perform. SO far, Sonic foundry has been right up there with imageline in my opinion, except for the lack of interconnectivity. Even tho they add fewer features There products are ROCK solid,(not that fruityloops is too bad in this respect, but s.f. is more solid) no question as to whether its gonna start up today... Cubase and cakewalk?? cant say the same thing there!

I just hope that S.F. comes as far with ACID as imageline has with fruityloops. (yet stil keeps the program simple)

Really, Acid is already becoming a viable replacement for fruity, except for its lack of interconnectivity.... or multitrack support...

I have faith in S.F. that this will improve.

P.S. again sorry for the long list.. if a mod wants to delete it, fine, just leave the link.

this wasnt to show Fruitys superiority, Just Showing how much a good company updates its product, and how much attention it has paid to the end user.

It doesnt need multitrack either, cause it syncs up (perfectly with co-rendering) with any Dxi or Vsti host. (in other words every multitracker out there EXCEPT vegas and cool edit 2, which is a great audio editor, but a joke if you need MIDI..) samplitude, N-track, Cubase 5.1, Cubase SX, Logic 5.13, Sonar...
And, actually you can do multitracking in Fruity, I just wouldnt recommend it, as it is very messy.

So, is Acid Pro 5 going to have multitrack audio recording?

I hope so, But Im sure the number 4 release will be really awesome, and there are workaround to multitracking in ACID, esp. if you have a decent PC.
