Hi,

I created ac3 files using soft encode. When I try to play the preview in Soft Encode it just makes crazy noise (peeeeeeeeeep). My soundcard (creative Live platinum) usually plays dolby digital (dvds...).
Is there another program to play ac3s or how can I get Soft Encode to do it right?

Please help and thanks,

Mathis

This type of playback happens when you are attempting to play back a digitally encoded file through a sound card that can not decipher the signal. Do you have the software installed to digitally decode the stream into the separate 5.1 channels? You would also need to have all 6 speakers set up correctly to hear the output. Normally with a computer setup in a home environment, you can run the digital out from your sound card to a home audio/video receiver that supports the same digital connection. At this point the home a/v receiver would then decode the stream and play back the file correctly.

I have an Audigy card on my home machine. The Creative PlayCenter software that came with it will play .ac3 files.
