OK Ted said:

New in ACID PRO 4.0
-Plug-In effects automation
-ASIO driver support
-5.1 surround mixing
-MIDI piano roll editing
-Yamaha OPT support
-VSTi support
-Alternate time signatures
-Master, auxiliary, and effects bus tracks
-MIDI event list editing and step recording

Ted

And I saw on the Acidplanet forums that Suzan added "Loop Cloning" to the list.

So, could someone please explain a a couple of these features to me. I understand and am very happy about VSTi, the new MIDI features, 5.1 surround mixing and Alternate Time Signatures.

Could someone explain to me what "plug-in effects automation" means and what "master, auxillary and effects bus editing" will let me do? Oh yeah, what's loop cloning?

Thanks

I would think what they mean by effects automation is that you are able to add/mute/adjust plugins on each track and have it change in real time -- as opposed to having one setting applied the whole time. Kind of like using keyframes in Vegas.

Master, aux, and effects busses now have their own "tracks" that you can display for creating fades and other effects more easily.

>Could someone explain to me what "plug-in effects automation" means

Let's say you own any of the Waves 3.5 plugins, We will use a Reverb.
You can select Reverb Decay Time (or any thing else) for automation,
From meas.1 to 5 you want a 1.5sec reverb and from meas. 5 to 20 you can draw a envelope to change your Reverb Decay time to 3sec and from meas. 20 to 30 back to 1.5sec.

>master, auxillary and effects bus editing" will let me do?
I haven't seen it yet but you should be able to add an FX to a Master buss and create FX, Pan and Vol. automation on that Master buss, I would say that the VSTi have a Master track too for automation.

I don't know.

We will see.

Hopefully it means you can use time signatures other than 4/4 e.g 3/4-5/4-6/8-12/8 etc.A very useful addition i think.

The spacing of the grid lines is altered to match the time signature that you choose. For example, changing the time signature to 3/4 would change the timeline so that there are three quarter note grid lines per measure, changing it to 5/8 would put five eighth note grid lines per measure, etc.

You can do real weird time signatures if you want to. Thirty-second notes are the smallest value. Ninety-nine is the maxmimum number of beats per measure.

Sounds great Ted!! Will it be possible to insert Sig changes along the timeline and access them from an event list ?

Oh my gosh. I get it... Lol... And they say you guys don't listen to your customers. Either that, or great minds think alike *wink**wink*. This looks like an outstanding product, SoFo. I can't wait to try it out.

You do mean that in the same song that you can have multiple time signatures throughout...ie:dream theater/progressive music. Like bars 1-16: 3/4...17-25:7/8...bars26-end: 7/4...right?

You can insert time signature changes anywhere. It works the same way as tempo and key change markers.

Loop Cloning is the ability to create new loops using the chopper. Yeah, yeah, they're not truly clones but I bet they had a hard time naming this one.
