Subject:saving my mp3 randomly changes the bitrate

Greetings,
I'm having a really annoying problem saving mp3's. I've got 22050Hz files and i want to keep them this way but when I save them, they automatically switch to 441000hz. But it's random. Sometimes it doesn't. And then, when I save a 44100hz file, it switches to 22050hz. What the heck?! Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

if you Save As mp3 file, you can choose a custom compression rate. however, the best you can get with 22.050 Khz using Sound Forge is 80 kbps. i don't know if the audio will sound as good with this low compression rate. but you can always try it of course. :)
