If Acid still has that same boring interface when it FiINALLY comes out, I am not bothering, its SO archaic. Other music software interfaces are so much more inspiring to work with now, come on ACID KEEP UP! |

Please don't confuse "boring" with "nonfunctional". ACID's interface is a breeze to use. Eye candy is totally unecessary and would mostly likely make it slower and more difficult to use. Keep the interface simple and straightforward. Make your music exiciting! |

I agree with Chien. Save the eye candy. Hey - Windows Notepad is nothing to look at but has it ever crashed on you? It is the worlds most perfect app. Does exactly what it is supposed to and does it very well. Same interface since 1992. Cuzin B |

Interface ?! I think it holds up very well. Perhaps some sort of improved palette arranging or docking feature, but otherwise I think it's fine. |

CuzinB: LOL! Interesting you should pick notepad for an example. I agree that it's about as perfect as you can get. However, i have found myself lately wishing it supported Ctrl-F for find as most other Windows-based apps do. *sigh* But if that's my only complaint about it, then i won't complain too loudly. ;) |

Chein - adding CTRL-F would just introduce a plethora of new bugs that would kill the spirit of good ole Notepad :) I often sit back and wonder what the Notepad Development Team is working on right now....must be a lonely existance.... Cuzin B |

I see a new special interest group on the horizon: "SPELL CHECKERS FOR A BETTER NOTEPAD" I agree about ACID -- leave it alone. SoFo has kept the learning curve down, which (IMHO) shows how brilliant their programmers are. I'd rather have them spending their time making the app RUN better, not LOOK better. |

no doubt...I don't use ACID cuz' it's purty...I use it cuz' I don't have to dig thru umpteen menus to do anything. Logic and Cubase look purty but I can't use 'em. Plus, all those graphics mean higher cpu/RAM usage and we don't want that. |

Sorry, but that's crazy to say "oh I wont use acid if the interface doesn't change". If it ain't broke why fix it. Btw, I'm using NotePad under Win XP Home and I can press ctrl-F for find. It's not there in earlier versions, however the latest version does support that key combination. |

OK guys youre right, it iS solid as a rock, always has been, since day one, and because Ive been using it since day one, it just looks a little dusty now. I think the notepad development team are thinking about background colour and theme choices? heh... |

Eye candy only takes you so far. ROBOTRON is one of the most intense video games ever, and look at how basic it is... (no, I'm NOT trying to start a debate on video games :)) |

Ted, exactly. And that's the problem. It's almost universally Ctrl-F now. Heaven forbid i should have to stop and think about something like that when switching from one application to another! |

Notepad would take you half an afternoon to write in Visual Basic with any Visual Basic Textbook. Then you could add your own CTRL-F for find ... :) |

The real question is, could you build a new ACID interface and find it in Notepad? |

Maybe I should alert the Notepad Development Team to take part in Acid 4.0. Hey - a notepad would be handy in Acid to save session notes etc...hmmmm Cuzin B |
