Render Times

I have been using VV3 now for about a week. It has taken some time to get use to the interface and work flow, but my biggest concerns are the render times..HUGE!

It seems to take for ever to render both AVIs and Mpegs. I have a 2000+AMD, 512 ram, Nvida GeForce2MX, 40 and 80 gig 7200 HDs, Win2K.

An example for a Mpeg render: Mpeg2 Program stream, 1:30 in time line rendered with the Main Concept preset took 13:20 minutes in VV. In Premeier 6 using Canopus SoftEncoder the same project took 4:11.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Is this normal? Even the Print to Video rendering takes forever in VV. At least 2-3x longer than in Premiere. Am I doing some thing wrong?

Thanks

Are you rendering from avi to mpeg? I have a Pentium 4 1.5 with 512 PC800 ram & it takes me around 4-5 hours to render using VBR at 6,000 for an average bitrate. What are your settings? If I render from premiere's timeline with Canopus procoder using the same settings with 2-PASS VBR SETTINGS IT STILL DOESN'T TAKE ME THAT LONG....close (12 hours) but that is 2 pass . Something is wrong in your settings. Let us know
