I would like to remove the vocals and some other instruments from a sound sample so that i can keep only the guitar. I've tried many things using Sound Forge 6.0 but I still didn't find out how to do it. If someone can please answer me as soon as possible, I would appreciate very much. Thank you in advance, Focal Trepinnski ** please reply to me at: darkslide2fakie@hotmail.com ** |

Isn't that always the way!! Just as I finally have the bugs worked out of a plug-in that removes everything but the DRUMS... Psst... what you're asking for can't be done. M |

"I would like to remove the vocals and some other instruments from a sound sample." and I would like to date Brittany Spears......only my odds of doing that are much higher than what you're asking for. |

The very best way to do this is to have the artist unsing the vocals. While this can be accomplished on the phone, it works better if they come to your studio to unsing. I have tried having different singers unsing a part, but it never worked well. As for unplaying the instruments, I am sure the same process would work, assuming you could get all the musicians and vocalists to unsing and unplay their parts in your studio. Since you do not have the multi-track recording to do this from, they would have to be there at the same time. Unsinging and Unplaying in multiple cuts can degrade the overall quality of the remaining sound. This would require some pretty good studio equipment, not to mention getting the band to the studio at the same time... RiRo |

You're lyin, Red. :-) Heck, I remember you telling me how beautiful your wife is, and that she's the only woman in the world in your eyes. (OK, so maybe you didn't exactly say THAT, but you did say she was beautiful! So leave Brittany to the bachelors, ok?) Seriously, it's nice to see you still here and kicking, Red. I have always enjoyed your input, and I hope all is well! sk |

"So leave Brittany to the bachelors, ok?)" That was part of my original point, since I'm not single and married to a beautiful woman from Brazil, that only increases my odds of being able to date Brittany. Even so, those odds are still better than trying to remove individual sounds from a mix. "Seriously, it's nice to see you still here and kicking, Red. I have always enjoyed your input, and I hope all is well!" Thanks a bunch. It's always good to hear some words of encouragement, that someone is getting some use of some of the audio knowledge that I try to share in these forums. Usually, I only get the banter from the people that I upset when I have to explain to them why they're technique is wrong. Maybe I should work on that "candy coating" explaination technique???....hmmmmmmm???...Nahhhhhhhhh!!!!! |

Well, now that you mention it, as I was reading through the posts, (since it's been at least six months or so since I've lurked...I mean, stopped by) I did notice an inordinate amount of 'crusty' comments by my old buddy Red. But what the heck. You've earned it! Give em hell! Happy tunes, all! sk |

Also, Red, I was thinking today... I wonder... if I'd been able to remove my ex-wife's vocals... if she'd still be my ex-wife. I guess so. But still... it makes one wonder. lol sk |
