many times I will right click on the channels popup in the lower right corner of the screen to convert a stereo track to mono. (The tracks are really dual mono - not stereo.) I select the left channel of a stereo file to be the source of my mono mix. I want to ignore the right channel. And I don't want a mix. I want a straight reduction and I can do this easily with the popup. How do I do this same task in the plug-ins without sending this into a mix process. I want to use this in the Batch Converter and in Vegas and I want exactly the same data. Does the Channel Converter play fair? The fact that there was never a preset always made me suspect that it did not. thanks! |

ok, to answer my own post - the formula is this: Channel Converter Process Stereo to Stereo - Pan center, use Left channel only output channels - stereo File Format convert to wav Mono this passes an md5sum test against the product of the right click channel convert method. however - select all left channel and drag and drop and select all left channel copy and paste to new do not produce the same md5sum as the above or even as one to another. Am I misunderstanding this function? I compared them in CRC-32 with the same result. |
