Looking for Component Output Card

I recently came by a Sony PVD 1353MD Monitor, which I am told is a fine external monitor screen for video editing. It looks great with S-Video, but I am told that using the Component inputs would make it better, still.

Does anyone know of a good, reasonally priced way to get a signal directly from my IBM Compatible PC to the R-Y, Y, B-Y inputs on the 1353? I am looking for a direct output card.

Failing that, would 1394 output from my capture card to a DataVideo DAC-2 converter be as good a signal as one directly from a card in the PC? Anything lost in the translation?

Any comments?
Thanks!

The jump from composite to s-video is striking and worth the effort. I haven't had the opportunity to do A/B comparisons between s-video and component, but I can't imagine the leap being as great as composite to s-video. It's probably not worth the effort, especially for 4:1:1 DV material (it's probably got visibly sharper color transitions with 4:2:2 material).

Using IEEE-1394 to the DAC-2 to that monitor is a great external monitor solution.

ATi now sells a component adapter for the Radeon 8500 lineage of cards. I don't have the adapter (don't have a supporting TV!) but I do have an 8500 with dual head and it's a great card with VV.

I would have to disagree with you on the component vs Y/C compared to Y/C vs composite. I use all component 4:2:2 digitizing on my main NLE and monitor the output in component and from the decks at Y/C and the difference is clear. It is a step up and have done comparisons with clients using component recording vs Y/C recording and then making the VHS copies from the two. The component, this case Betacam SP, made VHS copies cleaner, sharper, better color saturation and separation than did the Y/C master tapes. I was using Sony UVW1800's and Panasonic DS850 each recorded from the same digital edited program and then VHS copies from that and it was a very noticeable difference. And the VS and WF monitors proved it to. As for monitoring the output signal of the editor on a good monitor that has component inputs it will help show the problem areas easier which is what you are looking for. Not good video but better finding the problems to fix vs being hidden. But it does cost.

I have ATI cards, older ones, and they have been shall we say temper mental. I would be interested in hearing about these new ones.
