When i start CD arch 4.0g build 358, from Tools in Sound Forge XP 4.5 v 4.5h build 402 on win2Kpro sp2, the drive selection dialog does not show my HP CD writer. I must restart the system for it to show the HP, sometimes a restart does not help either. the only item that shows is the sonic found cdr simulator.
the hp is cd-writer 8200 series ide int.
any clue on this please.

thank you.

I am having the same problem with the same CD Burner, have you found a solution yet to this problem. My older versions of CD Arc. worked just fine with the current burner but as soon as I uopgraded to W2K and then upgraded soundForge this problem started. Please let me know how to fix this problem.

Try the latest CD Architect update, 4.0g. This is available for download here:

I have seen this before. Very similar problem when upgrading to Windows XP. Here is the question. Is the drive IDE or SCSI and if it is SCSI what type of controller are you using to run the drive??

the CD burner is IDE - HP 8200series

hey raffi

is your drive ATAPIMMC Comp ?
did you try selecting ATAPIMMC Compatible under drive select then select ESDI 506 under the SCSI Host area. Then select your drive under the SCSI CDR area.

good luck

Good idea by krugerm1. The full work around for unsupported drive selection goes like this...

Open CD-Architect, and choose Options/Select Drive. Under this menu, hit Advanced and in the First pull down menu, choose "ATAPI MMC Compatible" for an IDE CD_R Drive or "SCSI MMC Compatible" for a SCSI CD-R Drive. Then under the Second pull down menu, choose the first item listed. Finally in the Third pull down menu, choose your drive. If your drive is not listed, repeat steps Two and Three until you see your drive. Once you have selected your drive, try burning audio. If it works, you may need to do this every time you would like to use CD-A, if it does not, you are unable to use your drive with the software.

If this still does not offer a fix for the issue, make sure you have updated your ASPI layer from Adaptec's website. The latest version to update to would be 4.71. Also check HP's website for a Firmware update, I seem to remember issues with these drives when they first came around that was fixed.
