i have been tinkering with acid pro 1.0 for several years, but only on PCs established computers primarily geared towards other purposes. i am now looking to buy a laptop that i can use exclusively for music production. are there any suggestions out there, either about the overall machines or the indiviual componants? has anyone had any luck with sonys or macs? are there any componants that are essential? from the standpoint that i am committed to the portablity of a laptop, what should i be looking for in a soundcard? any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. oh, and should i be thinking about buying 3.0, or is the upgrade from 1.0 suitable, as a sidethought? thanks! |

it comes down to the software you want to use and your budget. there are limited titles you can use on mac and acid is not one of them. you will also have to get the proper soundcard for recording with a laptop. egosys and echo make some decent cards for this but they will be limited by your hardware. i don't recommend a name brand windows laptop because they will cost yu $$$$$$ to get them up to par if they can make one. instead, you should have one built or build one yourself. |

As far as upgrading goes, i think you should step up from Acid 1.0. There's a big difference between 1 & 3. BUT.... it sounds like Acid 4.0 is nearing release, so you might want to hold out for it. |
