cannot get final render smooth

My preview plays smooth and clear. When I print to tape from timeline it is smooth and clear. When I render project to AVI file it is choppy beyond watchable. What am I missing? Anyone?

Are you rendering as uncompressed? If so, render as a DV avi file instead.

Yes I was, any particular reason why rendering uncompressed would do that?

An uncompressed .AVI file is usually at least 5 times the size of a DV file. To play it requires that your processor handle a video stream of 150mbps and it may not be able to handle the data fast enough. A DV file is only 30mbps.
