Has any one used ACID PRO 3 to drive only external gear. 1)How reliable have you found the software to be. 2)Is the Midi recording Looped based also 3)Is the midi editing straight forward 4)Would you recommend it as the main sequencing tool. 5)Are there any serious limitations with Acid being used as a midi sequencer Thanks for your help in advance daryl |

Great question for a PC producing rookie like myself! I've always be a knob-twister! But for all of you who read this, I am basically asking the same thing under my email subject "Recording Midi". I have even given some detailed examples of my recording/sequencing process. I am VERY interested in everyone's feedback! Thanks! |

1) Very reliable, especially for what it does. 2) It can be if you want it to. :) You can record your MIDI material as MIDI or as digital audio (if hooked up right). 3) Well, it's not exactly a sequencer in the strictest sense. You basically record your MIDI, and that's about it. If you want to modify the MIDI, you'll still have to use an external MIDI editor of some sort. 4) That depends on how you work. For example, since I work overwhelmingly with digital audio than MIDI, ACID is the perfect fit for me. In a way, ACID is a digital audio sequencer. But to use it alone just for MIDI? Probably not. 5) I guess that also depends on how you work. You could use ACID Pro's MIDI sync capability to trigger other apps if needed, for example. Again, if you'd like to modify what you've recorded for MIDI, you'll need an external MIDI editor. I'm sure there are others who can add to this topic. HTH, Iacobus |

Acid is not designed for MIDI sequencing and I advise strongly against attempting it. All it can do is sync and record MIDI. You can't manipulate MIDI events - and if you can't manipulate events what's the point of recording MIDI data ? You might as well go direct to audio. If you want a cheap MIDI sequencing solution then I'd recommend Orion, Fruityloops or perhaps Muzsys. Better yet, hang on for another few weeks and hope that AcidPro4 contains a substantial MIDI component. |
