Has anyone experienced problems recording or playing back 24 bit files in SF 5.0 using Echo's WDM drivers. The Echo doc says this "might" occur. I'm in the process of upgrading from 98SE to XP and I'd like to know if this is in fact a problem and if so has it been fixed in SF 6? Thanks! drbam |

I have this same question. If you decide to go for it, then let us know if you have any problems. |

Rednroll: I spoke with Echo's tech rep and and a SF rep. SF insists that they have fixed this with the latest 5.0 update and in 6.0. The Echo rep confirmed SF's response and also said they had an additional fix on the way. That's the good news. The bad news is after loading XP yesterday (by the guy who built my system), I've entered into a level of Windows hell that is incredible. I've heard that XP can be difficult to get up and running but this is WAY over the top! The thing has gone into a crash/reboot loop that literally won't stop. As typical with these kind of things, I'm in the middle of a project! Oh well, back to 98SE (which I had very few problems with). I'm starting to envy the Mac folks . . . and the "good ole' never fail ADAT days. . .a bad sign I know! But that's another story. . . ;-O drbam |

I am using the Echo Layla24 with the 6.04 WDM version driver with Windows XP Pro at the moment and I don't have problems with ACID PRO 3.0, Vegas Video 3.0, Sound Forge 6.0, Reason and Logic Platinum 5.1.3 at the moment. I had problems with previous drivers from Echo with Midi and Reason, and 24 Bits recording with Sound Forge 5.0 and Vegas 3.0. The strange thing was with the 6.03 driver was that this didn't work good on XP but with Windows 2000 there were no problems, the same driver. Regards, Diederick F.M. Cools. |
