working on an hour long audio file. got to the end and BOOM--crash city. a few seconds later, the error box came up to tell me it crashed, then sf6 shut itself down upon clicking ok. restarted sf6. crash recovery box comes up saying I can recover the file. clicked recover. another error box comes up to say the file doesn't exist. clicked ok. now sf6 won't even try to recover the file. what gives? is it there or not? if it is, how can I get the file back? hellllllllllpppppppp! |

I had this exact same problem happen, but didn't check to see if I could find the file elsewhere's. Fortunately, I wasn't working on a project and was just probing around for bugs and testing the program out. I found that one among others and deemed the program unworthy of doing any real session work until the bugs get fixed. |

same happened to me with 6.0a. I got a blue screen message during a long save operation and I was unable to recover the file. |

luckily I was using win2k, so the whole computer didn't crash, just the program. I hunted around for the temp file (sf6 sends them to the "local settings/temp" folder under the user dierctory in win2k--otherwise they go to "sonic foundry/sound forge 6.0" for 98 I think). when I finally found it, the file ("frg6cut.tmp" IIRC) was 0 bytes. so, sf, any ideas when this will be fixed? |

I can't say when for certain, but this will be addressed in a future update. Also, please note that the crash recovery will not work if you haven't actually done anything to the file. Ted |

but, I had made numerous edits in this hour-long file. so, I assume what you're saying is crash recovery doesn't work at all, right? |
