Hey Gang: I've got another crazy one for you... Is it possible to replace the SoundForge background image (the textured stucco image) with one of my own? I know I can select to show it or not, but where does SoundForge store that image and can I replace it with another? Also, I'm sure the image is tiled, is there a way of turning off the tiling? Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Joe |

This requires mucking around with the Internal Preferences tab, so heed the following standard warning: Changing settings in Internal Preferences can really mess up your installation. Do so at your own risk! Sonic Foundry will not save your butt if you change something here. To recover the original settings, exit Sound Forge, then hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys while starting it again. This will reset ALL preferences to their default values. That being said, prepare the image you want to use and save it as a 256 color Windows Bitmap using the Windows System palatte. In Sound Forge, hold down the Shift key while selecting Options, Preferences. Click on the Internal tab. Don't touch anything! Scroll down near the bottom until you find Wallpaper Filename. Type in the full pathname of the .bmp file, hit Enter, click Apply. Exit Sound Forge and restart it. If you had "Show a textured backgroudn on the Workspace" checked you will now see your own picture in the background instead. If you want to go back to the "stucco" background, repeat this procedure and leave the Wallpaper Filename blank. I don't think there is any way to disable tiling. I also noticed that Sound Forge doesn't always correctly render the palatte colors, especially darker ones. I loaded in a portrait of someone with dark hair and it ends up being displayed with light grey speckles. Oops ;) |

Chienworks: You ROCK! I'm gonna try it tomorrow. I'm planning on using a company logo. Thanks a million for the info. Joe |
