Subject:3.0's bleeding...anyone got a bandaid?

hi. i just got 3.0. i have an Audiophile 2496 soundcard. whenever i record a new track, any unmuted tracks previously recorded bleed onto the new track. It's not my mic picking up the sound. I have checked out whatever settings i could find. it's quite annoying. i have to mute everything but my main tempo track, and turn that track down so i can barely hear it...and it still gets recorded onto the new track. anybody else out there experiencing this?

Hello,

This is because of the Pre, Post, settings for the faders. If you set the fader to post volume it won't backfeed through.

Nope, that is not possible. Vegas doesn't rout its outputs to the inputs.

The pre/post setting is to determine how the tracks signal is sent to an aux or assignable FX bus.

It is more likely that the audio card's internal mixer is routing the output to the inputs in some way or that the card is connected to an external mixer causing a feedback loop.

To the orginal post:

The Audiophile 2496 permits some pretty complex routing capabilities. If you look at the manual on page 12:

"This capability makes the Audiophile 2496 quite flexible for WAV output, monitoring, or directly connecting inputs to outputs for “system test” purposes."

This sounds like the mode the software is in.

Hello,

Well, I had the same problem with Acid Pro 3.0 and I could mute tracks that were assigned to assignable effects and it would still bleed through untill I set the Track Faders to Post and it went away.

See ya, Rockit

You are correct Rocketglider to an extent. By this i mean that what you were experiencing is that the tracks were not actually muted due to the pre/post setting. This would seem as though all tracks were muted but as it was recording you would hear the effects from the muted tracks apparently bleeding through. Changing the setting to post would eliminate this. However if you were recroding and then stoped and saved the file then opened it up in another application for playback you should have not heard the other tracks. If you did then the solution that SonicPCH provided would be accurate.

Rocket,

This only a symptom of the problem. What you are describing is the ACID 3 signal flow. You solution, while it could work, would prevent the user from hearing the existing tracks while recording.

If you end up recording what ACID is playing back, then the hardware (or its drivers) MUST be involved. Again, ACID (and Vegas) cannot rout their outputs to their inputs internally. I just want to make this clear.

I guess this is a really dumb question but how do you set the track fader to Post?
I have this problem also

On the multipurpose fader, call up Bus A or FX1, or whatever you're doing the send to. Then right-click on it, for your options of Pre/Post.

I've got the same card and the same problem - but I can't work out how to re-jig the routing from the tab in the card setup. The manual doesn't really explain. tlrapisura, did you work out how to actually do it?
