Ok if anyone could help me i would REALLY apreciate it, Im recording from my DAT machine onto sound forge and everything works fine, it plays back at normal speed on the computer. But when i burn it to cd, the playback speed is slowed way down, and the whole song is like that. I cant seem to get it to its normal speed no matter what i do. On my DAT the music was recorded at 48k hz but when i put it onto sound forge i bring it down to 44.1. ive tried even recording from the dat at 48 then changing it to 44.1 after its recorded. neither works and the song plays back on any cd player to slow. PLEASE can anyone help me?

Strange one, this is. So lemme understand this. After a track has been transferred in Forge and is standing there in it's own window - you hit play in Forge and the song plays fine?

Then you burn this file to a CD and it plays slow? I would have to say that is pretty much impossible since the "speed" of a song won't be altered by simply converting it to CD audio.

Have you performed a "dither" on the track in Forge? And what format are these files in just before the CD transfer? Standard .wav files?

Update when you can.

Cheers,

Cuzin B

What are the results with the burning software that came with your burner?

Yep - there is definitely something else at work here - what burning software and burner are you using?

Here is whats happning. When you import the file from your DAT into SF, you set the sample rate of the file to 48,000 Hz and Stereo etc. Then you probably reset the sample rate from the task window at the lower right portion of the screen to
44,100 hz and then your file sounds like its playing on a slow turntable. The solution can be found on the Process Menu with the Resample command. Resample the file from 48000 Hz to 44100 Hz using the standard selection from the preset menu.
Then save your file at the new sample rate, listen to it and if all is well, burn it.

Make sure to do Process/Resample prior to burning the CD instead of letting the program do it automatically when you choose the "Burn CD" option. I've seen problems with letting Forge do the resample at the time of the burn.

Are you with Sonic Foundry? If so, I'm searching for a way to locate someone in Orange County, CA to help me with Sound Forge. I have a project needing a jump start. Tried to locate someone last year, no success. Would you have any suggestions? I'm happy to pay someone....I just can't find anyone! Thanks much! Tommy

We don't offer any kind of training courses, and we don't have any offices in your area anyway. Your best bet would be to post in this forum to find out if there is anybody close to you who would be willing to help. I'd do it, but I'm in Wisconsin ;-)
