Hello dear users,

I have just updated my Soundforge.
I have a question: why there is not a real Master CD burning system ?
If you consider Wavelab or others professional audio editors, Soundforge is one of the rare professional audio editors that don't have a good system for burnong Master CD. IS tere a solution or a product developped by SOnic Foundry or others software editor to burn master CD's at a professionel level ?

Thanks for your replies and have fun by playing music.

...what do you mean by "real master CD's". You have all the choices for bit depth and sample rate, you have the processes/effects including multiband limiters, normalizers, eq's, compressors. Maybe this term has a meaning I'm not familiar with, but I burn what I always thought were masters from my multitrack recordings using SF.

SF used to have the best CD authoring software in the universe.
It was called CD Architecht, but they decided to discontinue it and diss all of their best customers:)

Hello, thanks for your replies dear users.

By "real master CD's", I would like to say "professional master CD".
I have searched evrywhere on the web but I have'nt seen a demo of CD Architect.
Do you know a software that would be able to burn CD's, with the gestion of PQ list, ISCRC codes and so on ?

Thanks for yur replies

You might want to look at Nero Burning Rom and Roxio Easy CD 5 Platinum

http://www.nero.com/
http://www.roxio.com/en/support/roxio_support/software_updates.html

Edited to correct typo.

I also suggest RecordNow max, http://www.stompinc.com/.
I tend to prefer it over Nero, but still use CDA exclusively for burning CD-A pre-masters.

It's still worthwhile looking for a copy of CD-Architect. It's still the best DAO (Disc At Once - which is what you mean by 'master' I guess) CD authoring app. Only thing it doesn't do is mixed-more discs , like with CD-Text or data files (CD-Extra).

*HOPEFULLY* in SF6.5 ??? SF have implemented most of my other suggestions (about 3 or 4 I think !), but they do really seem to have a mental block on this one ;-) .

For me Vegas is *not* the place to be doing this sort of thing.....

I worked with a friend's machine running Vegas Video 3.0a and burned one of my CD Architect projects (cdp). All appeared to work. Since I already own CD Architect, Vegas Video seems to be the drive compatibility solution for the forseeable future. This solution seems a little heavy handed for me since I don't do any video on the computer at all. I noticed that Vegas Video 3.0 LE was included in Sound Forge 6.0. If Vegas Video 3.0 LE will also burn CD Architect (cdp) projects, it would be reasonable for me to upgrade to Sound Forge 6.0. I wonder...

Sorry, Vegas LE 3.0 won't do CD burning.

Most new CD-R(W)s still work just fine under CD-A's generic ATAPI or SCSI MMC Compatible Drive option under 'Advanced' in the Drive Select menu. Of course BURNproof is not implemented. geoff

Thanks to Chienworks for the response and the link, though the bad news is that Vegas Video 3.0 LE does not burn CDA projects. In response to Geoff_Wood, I was considering the Plextor 40x12x40 as my next drive, though I don't honestly have any excuse to get one except for testosterone. Perhaps, it will work just fine.
The reason I am thinking ahead is that I have archived many hours of my live recordings on two 60 GB hard drives as projects and I would hate to find someday that I am not able to burn the disks from the projects.
