'nother newbie question: Books?

You guys were so great to answer my question, let me try another :)

Can anyone recommend good, *recent* books about shooting/capturing/editing/out-putting digital video? I just brought home "Digital Video for Dummies", but I'll be needing the next step up from that. I want to take the VHS that I mentioned, and media from my new digi video cam, combined with audio, and output to several different formats - VHS, CD, and DVD. I want to create content that rivals what "wedding videographers" can do, but not for pay (just for family and friends.)

Timely post, I was just going to suggest a book to this forum.

I found a great book about DV shooting and editing: The little Digital Editing Book.

This is a great little book. I've read it over twice already. It has great tips for editing, logging, shooting and organizing your tapes. This is a must read.

It is really oriented toward the weekend warrior, shooting footage of family, birthdays, friends and family, etc.

Mekon...Thanks...sounds like a good book.

pdblizzard...Is that 'Dummies' book pretty basic? I'm just wondering what it covers?

Thanks

Mekon,

Are you sure it is the "The Little Digital Editing Book" or "The Little Digital Video Book".

Here is a link to Mr Rubin's little book:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/books/0201758482/pictures/3/002-4111500-6080813#more-pictures/

I'm in the UK and will have to have it "ordered" in from US supplier - sooooo I and my bookshop needs to have the correct title.

Thanks in advance

As Grazie pointed out, I did get the title wrong:

The Little Digital Video Book

Hi, I bought it hoping it would educate me on the PC side, and was a bit disappointed that it didn't get into some details there, but I wasn't disappointed with the chapters on getting the most out of the camera in the way of using light and sound. It's on sale at Amazon for 9.99 right now.

Well, I went to look for that book...didn't have it at the bookstore.

But, I did buy "The Videomaker Handbook".

It is put out by my favorite magazine, Computer Videomaker.

Here is a link to that book and other books available by Videomaker:

There are a couple of other books there that look good too.
