Soft Synths & FX - getting started -ACID Product Family

Subject:Soft Synths & FX - getting started Posted by: mtb Date:5/27/2002 3:23:27 AM ok so I'm relatively new to Acid (Pro 3.0) - I've got the sampling thing hapenning great and now want to go to the next stage. 2 specific questions: 1. I want to start adding some synth sounds - I've got a midi master keyboard; how to I get a soft synth playing into Acid? I don't mean midi sequencing, I just want to play sounds/parts direct into the project? What are some good starting soft synths that'll work with Acid? 2. I want to get some extra effects - specifically better distortions & a tape-delay simulator. I gather you can buy plug-in packs (?). What is compatible and how do I get them functioning in Acid tracks? Thanks

To do that you'll need to do two things: Download the demo version of Fruityloops as your VSTi host. The demo version can do vistually everything the commercial US$99 version can except save the confguration, but you can still render to wave and play and sequence (if you want to) VSTi instruments. It also includes a couple of instruments with the demo. Next, go here: http://www.kvr-vst.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi And do a search for VSTi/DXi free synths and effects. There are loads of them all indexed and reviewed with links for download. Good luck
