Vagas Video will not even start.

I have downloaded the Demo of vagas video, and when i try and start it up, it goes no further than saying "sacnning for plugins" and stays there for a bit till it stops responding.

I had this problem with sound forge also, but 1 day it decided to work and has been fine since.

Does anybody have any idea why it freezes when the program tries to load?

thanks

Hi Ritchie ... Just some basic computer suggestions ...

When was the last time you ran something like Norton Utilities on your HDA and made sure your directories and VTOC are sound ??

Have you defragged your drive lately ??

Have your run NU and checked the integrity of the windows environment ??

From your comment that "one day it just worked" it sounds like you MAY have some issues in one or all of the above ??!!

Hope this helps ...

You have broken DirectX plug-ins on your machine, and should find out where they came from.

Both Vegas and Sound Forge scan for DirectX plug-ins if they detect changes in the plug-in registry. Sometimes, due to problems with third party plug-ins, this can crash or hang the machine. If you restart Sound Forge or Vegas, it will have added the broken plug-in to an "ignore" list, and skip scanning it. This is why Forge eventually started working, and Vegas will do the same.

I have a problem similar to this, but in Sound Forge. Plugins are scanned, and right at the end instead of drawing a workspace window, the app crashes outright. No error message, no Dr. Watson report, just gone.

I ran the DXMan tool from AnalogX, and it reported there are a number of DMO plugins (which I interpret as "demo"), which are missing.

1) If these files are missing but still in the DX registry, is any SF product going to see them?
2) If the files don't exist, how can I get their entries out of the DX registry, since you need the file to regsvr32 /u them?
