DV Device Contol stubbornly persists

Twice I have encountered this strange little 'happening.' I want to pass 'print to tape' through my digi8 camcorder to my vhs vcr. I open vidcap30, click on the print tab, cue up my avi file, drop down the options menu and uncheck 'enable device control' box, click ok, go back in and double check to see that 'enable' remains unchecked, then, click on 'record to device'. My camcorder whines that little siren noise it makes as it kicks into action, prompted by VV30a to do so.

If I hit the stop button on the camcorder, the recording proceeds and is captured normally on the vhs machine. If I cancel the print, go back into options, 'enable' remains unchecked. Why is my camcorder not obeying?

This little problem is new to me. Anyone know what's causing it?

Very odd, my camcorder behaves fine in this aspect, doing the same actions as you. You might try posting your Camcorder make/model and SF capture version.

Sorry not to have posted that info originally. Camcorder is a Sony TRV103 Digital 8. I run Vegas 3.0a with the vidcap (3.0, I believe) that comes with it.

Until a couple of days ago, I never experienced this problem, but, I have to assume it is a software problem, not hardware. The cam will only do what it's told to do.

In the overall scheme of things, it is a minor problem, but, then, again, it seems that any problem I post on this BBS eventually gets solved, so I posted it.

Thanks for your reply

Hmm, strange haven't seen that before. Rebooting never hurts. When DV device control is disabled you shouldn't have device control in the capture tab, just capture and still buttons enabled.

Also, instead of using Record on Device to do this type of pass-thru print, by disabling DV device control, you can just keep DV device control enabled and then use the Print to Tape tab's Preview on Device button. This does the exact same thing as the Record on Device button, but doesn't kick the device into record.
