mp3 support is included with the full version of Sound Forge. If you are using the demo or a beta, mp3 will be unavailable due to licensing restrictions. If you have purchased the full version and are having problems, please contact customer support.

MPEG 1&2 support requires purchasing the Main Concept MPEG plug-in, which is noted on the box and website.

Sonic Foundry always requires registration of the MP3 encoder but this
is a free process. I did this with Acid Pro 3.0, Vegas 2.0, and Siren 2.0.
I assume it's still the same with Sound Forge 6. Something to do with the way
the MP3 codec is licensed I suppose. It's a harmless process, and again,
it's free.

For shame. I guess it's time to take another look at Stienberg's software...

Do so at your own risk!!! I just jumped ship from using ANY steinberg product. I could fill this server with all th B.S. that I went through with cubase 3.7r2+5.0. Relax and enjoy making music+videos with vegas and soundforge...The BEST combo package for multitracking software.

I couldn't agree with the above post more. Just for kicks I always try the latest versions of Cubase VST.....now Cubase SX. I try it for a couple of hours, my head starts to throb from a splitting headache, and then I open up Sound Forge and Vegas and have instant relief. Sound Forge and Vegas is like extra strength Tylenol for Steinberg products.

Maybe some day Steinberg will release a DEMO for Nuendo, so I could at least try it out. But after dealing with the bad user interfaces of all their other software, it will be a cold day in hell before I dish out any cash for Nuendo without being able to try it first.
