I have spent the last day or so working on a hardcore (midwest, not happy) track. I have a load of samples and one disk based track. I discovered the cute trick where you snip out a short audio chunk, turn off 'snap to', hold down ctrl, and then click, drag a tiny bit, click, drag a tiny bit etc. This is great for gabbery kick rolls and those buzzy squarepusher snare rushes... Now I have an Acid file that when I play it, occasionally Acid stops playback and doesn't respond to mouse clicks or keyboard input any more. WHAT HAVE I DONE? This is on a 1GHZ PIII machine with 384 mbytes RAM CUSL2 motherboard ... |

I also got this Problem on a AMD Athlon 1700+ with 256 mo DDram, I went through the forum and read the different solutions wich helped a bit but the problem remains. My conclusion is that Acid 3.0 is simply buggy... So nothing much to do except saving evry time you change something crucial and waiting for Acid 4, hoping it will be a much better version. |

Kent (right?), I had this problem using some heavy duty plug ins. I think I was running out of CPU cycles. I backed off of some of the FX and it straightened out. If you can watch your CPU usage during playback, you can see if this is your problem. I was at 99% CPU usage on a previous PC without locking up, but that was from high track count, not the FX. Maybe it's just the FX I was using (some Sonic Timeworks stuff). TeeCee |
