Uninstall all your sonic foundry applications, delete these directories
C:\Program files\Sonic Foundry
C:\Program files\Sonic Foundry Setup
Then edit this register adress WIN XP only.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation and set the DWORD to 0.
Everything will work even the noisereduction plug-in.

Good Luck

Don't forget to restart your computer after editing the register.

looks like the directX plugin problem has been tracked down, should be fixed in 6.0a

Is this necessary for ALL users of SF6 on XP ? I was thinking of getting SF6, but not if I have to fluff about like this....

No, some people are having no problems. It's not necessarily SF's fault. I have loads of programs that hate XP. If they fix the problems with the next release, then great.
